Family ASL Support Program

I help families go from frustrated, disconnected, and overwhelmed to empowered, connected, and communicating with all the language classes and community support they really need to succeed.

Why Learn ASL With Michelle?

I help you go from total beginner, excited, and overwhelmed, to intermediate-level Champ, ready for any conversation! Both the Stellar ASL course and the Interactive ASL courses include all the video lessons, assessments, and extras you need to succeed! There is no need to search the internet for random signs or go crazy looking up grammatical rules! In each pre-recorded lesson, you learn the signs, grammar, and cultural information you need in order to get started signing right away.

After completing our ASL courses, you will be able to:

  • Communicate with your deaf, HOH, or nonspeaking child with confidence
  • Communicate with a loved one that has lost, or is losing their hearing

  • Share family stories and traditions in ASL

  • Use your signing skills to support your child's language development at home and at school

  • Communicate with Deaf friends and make friends in the Deaf community

  • Understand the differences and similarities between English and ASL grammar, and help your child navigate those differences

  • Use your signing in an area of Church ministry, or to reach out to other deaf children in your community

  • Teach ASL to other family members and increase communication in your family

  • Support your nonspeaking child's language development, whether they eventually use speech or not

Welcome

Hi Friend!

I'm proud of you for being here and reaching out for support. Communication is the cornerstone of your family life, and I know you are here because you want to strengthen your family’s communication and connection with each other. You are amazing and this program is for you!

This program is a safe place for you to learn American Sign Language and grow your communication skills as a family.  Whether you are just starting out with ASL, or are working hard to keep up with your school-age child, I want you to succeed.  I want to walk along this journey with you.

The most important feature of this program is the high level of conversational support it offers. Your child’s siblings are welcome to come to our ASL Hangouts, adult family members are welcome at the monthly Adult Socials, and you have a special invite to this group’s monthly video call.

Although I teach many different types of ASL learners, the Family ASL Support Program is special to me. I have worked with deaf, hard-of-hearing, and non-verbal children for almost twenty years.   During that time, I have seen again and again the impact of using American Sign Language in the home.  I have seen children excited to tell their parents all about their day at school. A teen’s bashful smile as he receives praise from his mom. A group of first-graders excited to perform a skit at the Father’s Day brunch.  All this was done in ASL.  All this was done with love and a hunger for connection. By deciding to learn ASL, you are creating a home that is a fully accessible place for your child. This strong home base will benefit their confidence, growth, and development!

Take the next step and join. I’m here rooting for you, friend.
